Alva (Alvie) Andrew Kidder, born of Fred E. Kidder and Ora Skaggs Kidder on June 29, 1921, was married to Alva Mae Hughes on May 14, 1945 in Gallipolis, Ohio.

Predeceased in death by one son, Larry Bruce Kidder, brothers, Duane Kidder, Erroll Kidder, Denver Kidder, and sister, Ramona Gross.

Surviving: son, Keith Edward Kidder (Marianna); grandson, K. Ryan Kidder (Ashley), great grandson, Alvie E. Kidder; grandson, Lance E. Kidder (Olivia), great granddaughter, Vivienne Kidder, great granddaughter, Emilia Kidder, granddaughter, Melinda D. Kinduell (Kyle, great grandson, Beckett Kinduell, great granddaughter, Quinn Kinduell; granddaughter, Brandie Kidder Hicks (daughter of Larry), great grandson, Dustin T. Garnes (Mackenzie), great-great granddaughters, Dalilah Cooper, Paisley Garnes, and Willow Garnes, great granddaughters, Alyssa D. Smith, and Bailee N. F. Smith; son, Mark Steven Kidder (Sharee); daughter-in-law, Phyllis B. Kidder, granddaughter, Brandy Currey, great grandsons, Wyatt Milhone, and Bryce Currey, great granddaughter, Kaitlin Anderson; grandson, Chris Westfall; and brother-in-law, Steve Hughes.

Alvie was an active member of the North United Methodist church in Ravenswood, WV, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States serving as an artillery specialist for the U. S. Army 42nd Rainbow Division in the Panama Canal during World War II. He began his barbering carrier in the footsteps of his father, he loved his faith, fishing and being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood with Reverend Mike King officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery with full graveside military rites provided by the Jackson County Honor Guard.

Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Sunday, October 11, 2020, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, time of service.
