Camden Wayne Fletcher, 78, of Ravenswood, WV, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 11, 2016, at the Willow’s Center in Parkersburg after a long illness.

He was born on December 5, 1937, in Rockcastle, WV, the oldest son of Kermit and Faye Ruby Fletcher.

He was a graduate of Ravenswood High School with the class of 1957, and retired from Century Aluminum with 42 years in the maintenance department as a carpenter. Previously he worked in the inspection and finishing departments.

He was a faithful member of Coleman Chapel Church and had a deep passion for his Lord and his church. He had served as Sunday School Teacher, Lay Leader, Lay Speaker, and many other offices.

He was a man of character and integrity. He loved and cherished his family and showed this with not just words, but with daily actions. As such, he was a devoted and devout husband and dedicated father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

His love for his farm and all of his surroundings was his passion. His life on the farm consisted of his cattle (all of whom were named), his equipment, and the feeling of peace it gave him. His love for his family was an expression of his smile and excitement in his laughter. He was lovingly nicknamed “Uncle Meanie”.

Through the years he was a hard worker and expected nothing less of others. He enjoyed the times he had with family and friends, hunting and working side by side on the farm.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Frieda Nesselroad Fletcher, and a brother, Calvin Arthur.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Sullivan Fletcher; son, David (Amy) Fletcher; daughter, Deborah Fletcher-Pautz; grandchildren, Jonathan Fletcher, Patrick Fletcher, Dylan Pautz, and Devon Pautz; great granddaughter, Meredith Fletcher Marks; brothers, Curtis (Judy) Fletcher of Seattle, Washington, and Calvert Roger (Dolly) Fletcher of Elkview WV; sisters, Judy Townsend of Ballground, GA, and Patricia (David) Barker of Chattary, WV.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at 11:00 am at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with Reverend Lawrence Conger, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery.

Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Friday, August 12, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.
