Donald E. Flanigan

Donald E. Flanigan, 83, passed to his Heavenly Home, January 18, 2021, at the Ravenswood Care Center.

Don was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, November 10, 1937, son of the late Alvin L. Flanigan and Otalene McDonald Flanigan.

Don was a member of the North United Methodist Church, Ravenswood, WV. Don graduated from Victory High School, Clarksburg, WV, and came to Ravenswood to work for Kaiser Aluminum, and retired from Pechiney Rolled Products with 43 years as a mill operator. He was a former member of United Steelworkers Local Union 5668.

Don enjoyed boating, traveling and restoring old cars until his health diminished. Don loved his family dearly and his little dog Nikki, that was his constant companion. Don suffered Alzheimer’s disease for 11 years, but he never lost his ability to come back with humorous answers, and his kind heart to show us love.

He is survived by his loving wife Marjorie; daughter, Angela [Gene] Sherry of Cameron, N C, and son, Stephen [Terri] Flanigan of Ripley, WV; grandchildren, Heather [Matt] Wood, Travis Sherry, Victoria [Robbie] Brown and Justin Flanigan; great-grandchildren, Logan and Parker Wood, Kerstein and K’Lynn Sherry, Cameron and Eli Brown; brother-in law, Roger and Rae Weekley; sister-in law, Elizabeth and Jake Reber; and numerous nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Don.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his only brother, Robert Flanigan; and sister-in-law, Ruth Flanigan.

Memories Last a Lifetime and Love never Dies.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the No Hungry Food Pantry, 231 Walnut St. Ravenswood, WV 26164, and North United Methodist Church, Po Box 335, Ravenswood, WV 26164.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the Ravenswood Care Center for the loving care to Don in his 5 months stay; he was well known for his love for candy and sweets. Thank you for the love you showed to the family at this most difficult time.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 1:30 pm at Ravenswood Cemetery with Pastors Don Maxson and Tom Nolan officiating.

A Memorial Celebration of Don’s Life is being planned for the future.
