Earl C. Adkins, 87, of Ravenswood, WV, died Nov. 9, 2018 at Eldercare of Ripley.

He was born April 22, 1931 in West Hamlin, WV, a son of the late Hubert and Ida Smith Adkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; a sister, Clarene; and brothers, Bethel, Lawrence, Darrell and Ralph.

Earl was a member of Second Baptist Church in Ravenswood, WV. He also sang in a gospel quartet affectionately known as "Earl and his Pearls."

He was employed at Kaiser and Century Aluminum for many years and retired as a cell operator. Earl was also a veteran of US Army and US Air Force. While stationed in Alaska, Earl played baseball and his team won the armed forces championship game. He enjoyed being the Senior League baseball coach in the early 70"s and was an avid bowler in his youth.

He is survived by his sons, Earl Clifford Adkins, Jr. and Mark Allen Adkins; grandson, Caleb Adkins; brothers, Okey, Larry, Herb, Emmitt and Donald; sisters, Ouida and Nina.

Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV is serving the Adkins family where they will receive friends, Wed. Nov. 14, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm and the funeral service will be Thurs. Nov. 15, 2018 at 11:00am, with Pastor Chris Skeens is officiating.

Burial will follow at 3:00pm at Franklin Cemetery in Branchland, WV.
