Jack D Wiseman, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on Friday, September 29th, 2017, at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV. He was born and raised in Kanawha county, WV, the youngest of ten brothers and sisters.

Jack is survived by his children, Jonathan “Chip” Wiseman (Stacey) of Ravenswood, WV, Keri Wiseman Starcher (Joe) of Ripley, WV, Joshua Wiseman of Charleston, WV, and grandchildren, Kailee Mann, Hunter Wiseman, Victoria Starcher, and Joe Allen Starcher III (Trey), as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jack played basketball while attending Concord University in Athens, WV, transferred, and graduated from Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV. He continued on to earn his Master’s degree plus 45 from the West Virginia graduate college. He was elected to the Jackson County Board of Education in 2000, served as President from 2002 to 2004, and continued to serve on the board until his passing. Jack was a former teacher/coach at Ravenswood High and Principal of Ripley High 1981-1998. After retiring from Ripley, he served as the Executive Director of WVPASS (WV Partnerships to Assure Student Success) in the Governor's Office of Education and The Arts. In addition, he was also an Adjunct Professor at Marshall University Graduate College. In 1993, he was awarded the prestigious national Milken Award. He also served as Chair of his Church Advisory Council. During his time as a principal, he served multiple terms on the WVSSAC Board of Appeals.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2nd, 2017, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at North United Methodist Church in Ravenswood, WV, as well as 12:00 to 1:00 pm before the service at the church.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the North United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at the Ravenswood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the “Judy Wiseman Scholarship Fund for Prospective Teachers” at WesBanco in Ravenswood, WV. A fund Jack established after the passing of his beloved wife.
