(Mary) Jane Washburn Parsons Fletcher, 92, long-time resident of Ravenswood passed away peacefully on March 4, 2019 at Rosewood Center in Grafton, WV after a very extended illness.

She was born December 16, 1926 in Racine, WV of Boone County to the late James “Jack” Washburn and Julia Gadd Washburn. She was the fifth out of nine Washburn children. She was a strong, spunky and sometimes feisty lady who was the rock and strong shoulders of her family. She will be dearly and fondly missed by all who loved her.

She and her first husband, Ray A. Parsons, were the original builders, owners and operators of Raven Lanes bowling alley in Ravenswood in the late 1950’s and ran the business until shortly before his death in 1980. They were very active in the bowling leagues and at Green Hills Country Club.

They had two children Susan Kay Boore of Barrackville, WV and Linsley “Lin” Ray Parsons of Vienna, WV who survive her.

She married her second husband, O.J. Fletcher, a popular local “fix-it” guy of the Ravenswood area, April of 1982. He passed away in 2005.

She is survived by three sisters: Lucy Lewis of Charleston, WV, Gloria Atkins of Cheat Lake, WV and Linda Rae of Texas. She also has four grandchildren: Rachel Sabo of Barrackville, Ethan Boore of Barrackville, Seth Boore of Fremont, OH and Abra (husband – Dylan) Worthy of Mannington, WV. She has also been blessed with four beautiful great-grandchildren: Xander Sabo, Kolten Boore, Kyla and Tanner Worthy.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers Jess Washburn and John Washburn and sisters Sylvia Ferrell, Agnes “Hoke” Zeitz and Marie Washburn (who died in infancy).

Special thanks to the caregivers at the Genesis Pierpont Center of Fairmont, WW and most recently at the Genesis Rosewood Center of Grafton. Your loving care made all the difference in making her life the best it could be.

Family will receive friends Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 2:00 – 3:00pm. Funeral service will begin at 3:00pm at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV with Jimmie Cox and Mike Cox of 19th Street Church of God, Parkersburg, WV officiating. She will later be returned to the hills of her childhood home in Boone County near Racine, WV.
