Linda Mays

Linda Mays passed away on September 8, 2021. She will be forever loved and remembered by Bob, her husband of 62 years, her three children, her sisters, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Born to Jo Ann and Earl Jenkins, Linda graduated from St. Albans High School class of 1957. After high school, she worked in radiology at Charleston General when she met Bob. They married in 1959, and had Julie, Marcy and Carey and made Ravenswood their home. Linda loved living on Cypress Street with nearly a hundred kids on the street and often said "we're so lucky you kids grew up here."

Linda was a voracious reader and loved dancing, playing cards, the Ravenswood Library, oil painting, spending evenings with Bob at the Riverfront Park, crossword puzzles, sitting and talking on the front porch, visiting with neighbors, and lunching at the Cozy Cupboard. She would often say "let me tell you about this book I'm reading." Everywhere she went she started a conversation and never met a stranger. She had the quickest wit, was no-nonsense, very generous and loved to laugh.

She was a member of the Women's club and Beta Sigma Phi and worked for many years at Tetrick's Jewelers. Linda took up golfing and got a hole-in-one, was a league bowler, and was a supporter of the local union. She was known to perform weddings, many with short notice, and loved the adventure of it.

Many are left to remember her including husband Robert (Bob) W. Mays, her children Julie Lee and husband Larry, Marcy Mays, Carey Mays and wife Susan, sister Donna and husband Bill and the entire Craigo family, sister Jill and husband Wes, brother-in-law Russ, grandkids Josh and Jake Shields and Genevieve McNeal.

For those who would like to honor Linda's memory, you can make a donation to the Jackson County Public Library, Ravenswood Branch, 323 Virginia Street, WV, 26164.

The family invites you to please share memories of Linda on Roush Funeral Home Facebook page so that we may be comforted in our loss.
