Ronnie Gile Phillips

June 30, 1961 - August 25, 2020


































On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, Ronnie Gile Phillips was greeted in Heaven by his Savior and mother after injuries resulting from a car accident.

He was born on June 30, 1961, to Averal G. Phillips and Jessie V. Phillips of Ravenswood, WV. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Cindy Flesher Phillips of 23 years, and two daughters, Joy Faith and Emily Hope Phillips, whom he adored. Several other family members will miss him as well including his father, Averal (Marilyn) Phillips of Ravenswood; brother, Randy (Bonnie) Phillips of Rockport; sisters, Sherri (Mike) Benson, and Sonja (Wm Mark) Casto, both of Ripley, WV; mother-in-law, Shirley Flesher, and father-in-law, Darrell ‘John’ Flesher; sisters-in-law, Penny (Nick) Biddle, Vicky (Steve) Eddy, Michele (Ken) Fritz, all of Waverly, WV, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronnie loved spending time with his wife and daughters, taking them on camping, hunting, and fishing trips, as well as working on antique tractors and trucks. He always had a new project to keep his family busy. He enjoyed working on the farm, going hunting and getting the big one, or at least having a great story to tell when he got back, if he happened to miss.

Ronnie was a Greenhand in the Future Farmers of America in 1979. He went to college at WVUP after graduating from Ravenswood High School and went on to numerous jobs including Wolf Camper Sales, Dancer, Benson Truck Bodies, Rhodes Trucking, a dump truck operator and mechanic at multiple garage companies that led him to a career he enjoyed greatly of driving a bus for Jackson County Board of Education. He was also a member for many years at Ford Chapel United Methodist Church and in recent years, Beechgrove United Methodist Church. He had a kind, loving, and strong-willed soul and was always willing to lend a hand to friends and family.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Phillips; grandparents, Cyrus and Francis Sampson, George Mayford and Claudia Phillips; grandparents-in-law Clarence and Helen Wingrove, Kenner and Lucille Flesher; a brother-in-law, Fred McClung; an infant nephew, Brian Phillips; and infant niece, Andrea Benson.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, time of service. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery in Waverly, WV, with Reverend Karin Ritchie officiating.
